Vanna Recording New Album

Post-hardcore Group Working On Sophomore Album Due Out In 2009

New England, post-hardcore group Vanna is currently wrapping up recording on their sophomore album, which is due out in early 2009. Produced by Steve Evetts (Story of the Year, Every Time I Die, Our Last Night) and mixed by Mike Watts, the yet-to-be-titled new album accentuates the band’s matured sound, reveling in a elevated mix of melody and hardcore.

After a year and a half on the road in support of their debut album, Curses, Vanna returned home to Boston in March where they began writing and demoing new tracks before relocating to Los Angeles in August for a month to record with Evetts.

“Working with Steve Evetts was such an incredible opportunity for us,” says guitarist Nick Lambert. “Steve produced some of the most influential and important albums for all of us in this band, so having him be the one steering the ship on this album was just mind blowing. He definitely helped us put together an album that we really feel is exactly how Vanna was always meant to sound!”

Comprised of Chris Preece (vocals), Evan Pharmakis (guitar, vocals), Shawn Marquis (bass), Nick Lambert (guitar) and newcomer Chris Campbell (drums), Vanna have over four years of touring and recording under their belts now, and have stepped into the studio with a remarkably developed sound for the group’s sophomore effort.

“The new record feels like a great combination of everything we've done as a band up to this point,” explains Lambert. “It has catchier hooks, bigger breakdowns, as well as bringing back all of the gang vocals, and gang singing, varied styles of screaming, and it has a faster more punk influenced vibe in a lot of places that we're really excited about. We all grew up as kids listening to pop punk as well as hardcore and metal so it feels right having the faster paced and more intense feel in the new songs, while as the same time adding even catchier and more pop oriented choruses.”

Vanna continue to up their game with skillfully written songs and amazing duel vocals. Fans of the group’s previous releases will be excited to hear the accessible mix of the catchiness from their EP and the brutal heaviness of their debut full-length, with an added edge of maturity and progressed talent.

“I really think everyone will be pumped with the new record,” continues Lambert. “It feels so much more energetic than anything else we've ever done, and we've put our hearts and minds into this recording more so than we ever have before. If you were a fan of the Search Party EP or the Curses LP, then there will be something on the new record to appreciate. We feel like we finally had a chance to include everything that we love doing in this band and put it on one album without having to compromise anything. Not only that but quality wise, it's the best sounding Vanna recording by far, and we really think that's going to help translate our live energy to the new record.”

Fans can get a preview of the album this fall when Vanna tours the US with Ligeia.

SkylinePress.net Reviews I Am Ghost

I Am Ghost's upcoming album Those We Leave Behind hits stores 10/7.  SkylinePress.net has posted a review of the album, giving it 8 out of 10 stars.

"I Am Ghost is one of the most prominent rock/post-hardcore bands in the scene today. Their new Epitaph full-length entitled "Those We Leave Behind" proves that point. Immediately many would compare this record their previous work, well let me tell you one thing, they’ve successfully moved away from those comparisons. Now they have a more direct vocal delivery and seems more up in your face and you can feel the passion within the lyrics. As well as the vocal delivery the instrumentation is strongly influenced by crushing riffs and melting vocals. "

New Found Glory Signs With Epitaph

Pop-Punk’s Biggest Act Will Release New Album With Epitaph Records In 2009

Epitaph Records is proud to announce the signing of pop-punk’s most notorious band, New Found Glory.  The steadfast rockers are currently wrapping up the recording of their seventh studio album, which was produced by Mark Hoppus (The Matches, Motion City Soundtrack), mixed by Neal Avron (Linkin Park, Fall Out Boy) and due out in spring 2009.

For the past decade, New Found Glory has entertained fans with fun, energetic music, releasing six classic pop-punk albums, including three gold records New Found Glory, Sticks and Stones and Catalyst.  The group’s move to Epitaph marks the next chapter in the band’s renowned career.

“Picking a new label was a scary thing for New Found Glory,” explains Chad Gilbert.  “The music industry has been changing so much and more and more bands are being treated and presented like some Wal-Mart pop act with guitars. We have real diehard fans and we wanted to find a home that would represent NFG the right way.  A label that knew our music scene. Epitaph is the place to be! They were all longtime, true fans of new found glory and they understand us. We aren't just some record to put out before the new Pussycat Dolls CD! A real music label. We were over the big business of the majors.”

“It’s my great pleasure to welcome NFG to the Epitaph family,” adds Epitaph’s owner and founder Brett Gurewitz.  “Everybody here is over the moon about working with the greatest pop-punk band in history.”Stay tuned for upcoming announcements about New Found Glory’s new album in the coming months.

Bring Me The Horizon To Release New Album on Epitaph

November 18th Marks The Beginning Of Suicide Season

British metalcore outfit Bring Me the Horizon will release their sophomore album, Suicide Season, on November 18th via Epitaph Records.

It’s not often scene kids, screamo fans and metal-heads can agree on a band, but after BMTH's explosive rise in popularity, culminating in their breakout performances at Vans Warped Tour this summer, fans of all three genres have found their new favorite band.  With a wildly-anticipated new album and a full U.S. tour on the way, Britain’s hottest up-and-comers are on track to conquer the country this fall.

Hailing from Sheffield, England, Oliver Sykes (vocals), Matt Nicholls (drums), Curtis Ward (guitar), Matt Kean (bass) and Lee Malia (guitar) formed BMTH in 2004 and began setting the UK ablaze with blistering performances across the country. By 2006 the band had already won Kerrang!’s “Best British Newcomers” award and toured with groups like Killswitch Engage, Aiden and Bleeding Through.  Later that fall the group unleashed their debut album, Count Your Blessings, which further cemented their place among the metalcore elite.

In April 2008 the group entered the studio with legendary producer Fredrik Norstrom (Arch Enemy, In Flames, At the Gates) in an isolated area of Sweden, where they recorded their sophomore album, Suicide Season.

BMTH's experiences over the past few years, for better or worse, have shaped them into more passionate musicians, no longer content with ten tracks of straight up chugging and screaming (although ferociously heavy tracks such as “Sleep with One Eye Open” and “No Need For Introductions…” remain).  Instead, the vocals are more varied, guitars more atmospheric and the drums are a pure driving force.  BMTH have opted to explore the limits of their sound and abilities, resulting in tracks that will make you think as much as bang your head.

Suicide Season
’s opening track, “The Comedown,” foreshadows the album’s brutal intentions with sharp chainsaw riffs, pistol-whipping beats and snarling vocals that will send fans into a windmilling frenzy.  The album’s immediacy continues with songs like the moody hardcore meltdown “Chelsea Smile” and the prog-screamo sing along “The Sadness Will Never End,” and doesn’t let up until the last notes of the album-ending title track.  Suicide Season is the perfect soundtrack to a life spent on the edge, where the rules don’t apply and darkness rules.  November is Suicide Season………..

Suicide Season

1.    The Comedown
2.    Chelsea Smile
3.    It Was Written In Blood

The Higher Enter The Studio

The Higher Enter the Studio with Mike Green

With boy-band good looks and unabashed pop sensibilities, The Higher won a legion of fans who like to dance on their acclaimed debut Histronics.  The Las Vegas quartet’s follow-up (and Epitaph debut)On Fire upped the pop/rock ante, as The Higher crafted a catchy, contagious homage to hormones and heartbreak.

After a year and a half of non-stop touring across the US with the likes of Motion City Soundtrack and Sherwood, as well as their first shows in the UK and some Higher-mania in Japan, the band has entered the studio with On Fire producer Mike Green (Paramore, the Matches).

Enthused about the new record, and addressing the departure of guitar player Tom Oakes last February, bass player Jason “Face” Centeno writes, “Danger! Danger! The Snake, Face, Reggie boo and Doug Fresh have reunited (and it feels so good!) with All Star Producer Mike "Grizzly Silk" Green and the new tunes are better than ever. The hit makers aren't going anywhere.  The Higher will always be The Higher as long as Seth and I are breathing and best friends.  It’s safe to say that we are better than ever, not only as artists but as a cohesive songwriting unit.  Lyrically this record is emotional and logical. Seth and I are writing short stories mixed with grooves that will brand your bones.

As soon as the band finishes in the studio, they depart for back-to-back tours, first with Just Surrender, White Tie Affair and The Morning Of from October 11th – November 2nd, followed by a run with Ludo, Eye Alaska and Army Of Freshman starting November 3rd.

Scheduled for release early next year, the yet-untitled third record from the Higher promises a whole new glimpse into the band’s completely unique take on pop, emo and R&B.

Jason Centeno – bass
Reggie Ragan – guitar
