Welsh band The Blackout are proud to announce signing a worldwide deal with the legendary Epitaph records.
Epitaph was founded in 1979 by Brett Gurewitz, guitarist and songwriter for Bad Religion. By the early nineties were selling over a million records a year, all the while maintaining the punk rock ethos, which continues into the present day. The Blackout will join a fantastic roster of artists including Bad Religion, Rancid, Converge, Every Time I Die & New Found Glory among many others, thus cementing Epitaph as one of the most influential labels around to day.

"The Blackout have delivered an amazing record", states Epitaph president and owner Brett Gurewitz, "and I expect these guys to make a huge leap forward this year. I'm thrilled to have them on the label."

Sean Smith (vocals) had this to say: "The band are over the moon to be on Epitaph. It's an honor for us to be asked by them. We were offered billions of pounds by other labels but we knew Epitaph was the label for us. We love their ethics and we are also fans of many of the records they have put out. Epitaph is our new home and it feels warm and cosy".

Epitaph will release the bands second album The Best In Town produced by Jason Perry on 25th May 2009 in Europe. In the US, the album will be released on June 23rd 2009, just a few days before the band embarks on the Warped Tour, taking them throughout the country.

The Blackout's first record We Are The Dynamite came out late 2007 on indie label Fierce Panda and what followed was a phenomenal year with sold out headline tours in Japan, Europe and the USA- including selling out the Astoria! They toured relentlessly proving themselves to be one of the most hard working bands in the UK and shared the stage with Linkin Park, N.E.R.D & Lostprophets as well as storming performances at Reading/Leeds festival and Give It A Name.

It has just been announced that The Blackout will play one of the UK's most iconic venues- the Royal Albert Hall in London - for the Teenage Cancer Trust on 28th March alongside Bullet For My Valentine.

THE COLOR OF VIOLENCE MAKE THEIR DEBUT

Grindcore Duo Mark their Territory with Youthanize, out April 7th on Epitaph

After dancing with the devil in the pale moonlight as one-half of the wildly popular screamo band From First to Last, Travis Richter (guitars/vocals) and Derek Bloom (drums) have purposefully set aside their knack for mainstream success with their new band the Color of Violence.  Youthanize, as the title implies, is a grinding, surf-y testament to the wit, irony and artistry of two talented musicians working without restrictions or expectations.  Taking their music back to the underground from whence they came, Richter and Bloom are here to provoke and inflame, yes, but mostly just to have some f’ing fun.  

"The premise of the band was to be spontaneous and lighthearted while at the same time making intense music." says Richter.  “I feel like the whole mood of punk music has changed.  Or maybe it hasn’t and I have just romanticized the hell out of the whole thing.  Either way, I look at the early 80’s punk movement, even just on the west coast, there is so much diversity, from bands like the Weirdos to Black Flag to Bad Religion to X.  Take it worldwide and you get bands like GISM, Siouxsie Sioux or the creatures, Nina Hagen, etc.  I don’t see that anywhere now.  That boldness, that excitement, that diversity.  I’m not saying that we are on the level of any of those musicians, because we aren’t, all I mean is that this record isn’t a chugga-chugga blah-blah fuck me I’m angry kind of record.  We tried to improv just about everything on the spot in the studio and tried to bring more to the table than the status quo for the genre.  At its heart I feel like this is a punk record in that sense.”

Youthanize takes you back to an early era of grindcore/screamo and presents it with an almost indie sophistication.  Tracks like "God Gave Me Deeze Nutz," "Christina, Christina," "Me and My Enormous Spirtitual Erection," and the cover of the Pixies’ anthem "Rock Music" take unconventional guitar riffs, brutal production and unpredictable arrangements to create an unsettling and completely modern listen.  

“It may not be groundbreaking, and it may not sell any copies, but we tried to be ourselves and experiment,” concludes Richter, “and were all really happy with the way it turned out, so fuck it.”

Epitaph and Every Time I Die Make It Official

Epitaph Records is proud to confirm the worst kept secret of 2009, the signing of one of hardcore-rock's most notorious bands Every Time I Die. With the ink on the contract barely dry, the band is eager to enter the studio this spring to record their debut for the label, which is expected for release this fall.

Buckley along with founding members Jordan Buckley (guitar), Andy Williams (guitar), Mike Novak and newcomer Josh Newton (bass) have been slinging their nasty brand of southern rock infused, sweat drenched metal for the past decade, releasing classic hardcore albums like Gutter Phenomenon, Hot Damn! and Big Dirty and touring the world over multiple times.   

"Their brazenly original amalgam of rock ‘n roll and ironic aesthetics always reminds me of LA's dangerous, burgeoning hardcore scene I grew up in," adds Epitaph owner Brett Gurewitz.  "Maybe that's why they've long been my favorite contemporary American hardcore band.  Having the opportunity to work with them is a dream come true."

Thursday Announce European Tour

Critically acclaimed post-hardcore pioneers Thursday, have announced a European Tour in April 2009. The tour, which is set between April 11th and April 19th, will take them through six European countries and the majority of the shows will be part of the “Give It A Name” traveling festivals, with Taking Back Sunday, Underoath, Innerpartysystem and Thursday’s label mates Escape The Fate. 

Thursday will be touring in support of their highly anticipated new album, Common Existence, due out on February 16th (2/17 in the US) on Epitaph.  Recorded with producer/mixer Dave Fridmann (A City By The Light Divided, Mogwai, MGMT, Flaming Lips), Common Existence marks Thursday’s fifth studio album which is already receiving rave reviews in the European music press. Rock Sound UK stated that "Each song on the album is fantastic, a few are even spectacular", granting the album an 8/10. Highly acclaimed Q Magazine called Common Existence the bands “most consistent body of work to date” (4/5).    

The European tour follows their headlining appearance in the “Rockstar Taste of Chaos" Tour in the US, in which they are joined on stage by Bring Me The Horizon and Cancer Bats.

SING IT LOUD GOES BACK TO HIGH SCHOOL ON NEW TOUR

Rising Pop-rock Group Sing It Loud Calls On Fans to Submit their High Schools for Performances

In a unique effort to connect with young fans on a personal level, pop-rock’s most exciting new group Sing it Loud are giving high school students across the country a chance to have the band play live at their schools.  Touring in support of their wildly popular new album, Come Around, Sing It Loud are inviting fans to submit their schools to intern2@awaremusic.com for consideration.  The band will perform an intimate acoustic set followed by a presentation where the band will talk about their musical backgrounds and how their high school’s music programs helped them, a Q&A and autograph signings at selected schools during the day, before their regularly scheduled shows that night along their tour routing.  Full tour schedule is below.

PARKWAY DRIVE RETURN TO THE STATES FOR SPRING TOUR

Austrailia’s Top Metal/Hardcore Band Parkway Drive Returns to the US for a Headlining Tour and Bamboozle

America, brace yourself as the masters of Aussie metalcore Parkway Drive make their triumphant return for a blistering headlining spring tour and performances at Bamboozle and Bamboozle Left in support of the band’s brutish sophomore album Horizons.  The band recently wrapped up the Thrash & Burn Tour as well as an excursion with Killswitch Engage, Every Time I Die and Dillinger Escape Plan and due to overwhelming demand, they return to rip the pit this spring.
