The Blackout to Release The Best In Town on June 9th

The U.K’s Hottest Rock Band Drop Their Epitaph Debut In Time to Rule the Warped Tour

The hottest new rock act in the UK, the Blackout, will be releasing their addictive new album, The Best In Town, on June 9th via Epitaph.  The Welsh six-piece will take the US by storm on the 2009 Warped Tour, where they will unleash their potent brew of massive rock riffs, soaring melodies and maniacal screams.  Having honed their skills touring across Europe Japan and the US alongside bands like Bless the Fall, Alesana, The Used and Pierce the Veil, the Blackout were nominated by Kerrang! as Best British Newcomers.  With the road ahead filled with nothing but sprees, festivals and rock shows, 2009 promises to be the year the Blackout intoxicates the world.

Seminal punk band Rancid - Tim Armstrong (guitar/vocals), Lars Frederiksen (guitar/vocals), Matt Freeman (bass/vocals), and Branden Steineckert (drums) - have set June 2nd for the release of Let The Dominoes Fall (Hellcat/Epitaph), their first studio album in six years. The platinum-selling band recorded at George Lucas' Skywalker Sound Studio, with production by Epitaph Records founder/Bad Religion guitarist Brett Gurewitz. Let The Dominoes Fall features nineteen new songs, all written by Rancid. Special guest and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Booker T contributes Hammond B3 organ on one track, "Up To No Good."

"The crew is back doing what we do best," says Armstrong. "We approached every element of this record as a team, and the result is my favorite Rancid record to date."

It's also their most topical. From the unflinching observations of "This Place," "Lulu" and "Locomotive," all of which presage the current economic meltdown, to "The Bravest Kids" which rails against media's kid-glove treatment of the Iraq war, and the mostly acoustic "Civilian Ways," inspired by the soldier's journey of Armstrong's brother to Iraq and back home again, Let The Dominoes Fall feels timely, adamant and alive.

"Last One To Die," the first single from the new album, will premiere on April 7 via a widget available now on Rancid's myspace page. Let The Dominoes Fall is Rancid's seventh album and first studio release since 2003's Indestructible, which reached #15 on the Billboard Top 200. Epitaph Records is proud to announce the signing of Bay Area pop-punk crew Set Your Goals with plans to release their sophomore album on July 21st.  The band recently wrapped up recording with Mike Green (Paramore, The Matches) and will be hitting the road with labelmates New Found Glory on a cross-country tour.

“Of all our options, Epitaph was our first pick and we're very excited about having a great team of people behind us who will give this record the push we know it deserves,” said singer Matt Wilson.  “We've put a lot of time into this and it's reassuring to see that they believe in it as much as we do. The staff is very enthusiastic about working with our ideas and there is a dedication to our band here that we've never felt from any other label.”

Born out of the Bay Area punk scene, Set Your Goals released an EP in 2006 and their critically acclaimed, fan favorite full length, <i>Mutiny!</i>, later the same year.  Immediately grabbing the attention of their fellow bands and fans, the group would go on to tour with the likes of Alexisonfire, Anti Flag and Saves The Day over the next few years.  In 2007 the band was featured on the Punk Goes Acoustic 2 compilation and in 2008 they recorded Lil Jon’s “Put Yo Hood Up” for the Punk Goes Crunk compilation.  

With fan anticipation for the group’s sophomore full length at an all time high, Set Your Goals have joined forces with punk’s most established label, and have their sights set on making their best album yet.

SETTLE TO RELEASE AT HOME WE ARE TOURISTS ON MAY 19

Settle will release their smart, attention-grabbing debut At Home We Are Tourists on May 19th via Epitaph Records.  Produced by Adam Lasus (Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Army Navy, Yo La Tengo) and mixed by Ken Andrews (Jimmy Eat World, Pete Yorn, BRMC), the Easton PA quartet’s first full-length album is a pop dreamscape that deftly combines indie and dance rock that is alternately ironic and biting and deeply emotional and deliberative.  

Citing influences from Elvis Costello to the Liars and inspiration from art to social networking sites, Settle’s At Home We Are Tourists illustrates both the outlandish collection of pop culture that moves the band and an unusual ability to craft a remarkably accomplished first record.  Five years of writing, revising and discarding allowed the band to amass 12 songs that range from fuzzed-out rockers to indie gems to synth-driven fetes that flow seamlessly one into the other to form a perfectly cohesive whole.

Standout tracks like the evocative “On the Prowl,” the guitar-driven homage to the band’s roots “Affinity For My Hometown,” “ISO: 40yr M W/Kids Seeks 26yr F WO/Kids,” and the exuberant “I Saw An Inferno Once” create one of the most interesting, unique and unforgettable debuts in recent memory.
